What is up with today’s preachers on television? As I sit here and watch, I wait for them to preach God’s Word. Instead, what I see is people turning the Bible into a self-help book. God will do this for you, heal this for you, give you money, cars, clothes, and vacations.
Friends, we have specific ordinances from Jesus. Love the Lord our God with all of our heart, all of our mind, all of our soul, and all of our strength. Love one another as Jesus loves us.
I’m not saying that God doesn’t do great things in our lives. I do believe that He is Jehovah Rophe (God our Healer), and He is Jehovah Jireh (God our Provider). What I am saying though, is that the priorities of some of the preachers of these “mega” churches are focused on numbers instead of preaching the Word of God. They are focused more on what God can do for us rather than what we can and should do for God. This is causing a people of “Iwantalots”.
What is the purpose of your life? Is it to drive a nice car? Have a lot of money? Or is it to plant the seeds of the Gospel in the hearts of the lost? “Go ye into the world and preach the Gospel to every creature.” That, is the purpose of life.
What are you doing to reach out to the lost? Are you focused on what God can do for you, or are you focused on how you can pick up your cross, and serve Him that saves? God help us.
